a magical day

when i woke up to find big flakes falling from the sky, i had a feeling that even lots of studying couldn't prevent the day from being special. and today did turn out to be quite magical. aside from the brief snowfall, i got to spend a few hours studying with jodi. then i got to spend some time with kyle. we missed the first showing of august rush, so we walked around target together. with some time still to spare, we caught up on each others' lives the past few weeks over peppermint mochas.
and then we saw august rush. with beautiful music and a touching story, i thoroughly enjoyed this movie. while it may have been unrealistic and was even predictable at times, i liked it. today kyle said that he liked it when movies let you escape reality for a few hours by sharing a story. when you watch it, you are able to experience someone else's story. with the gift of imagination, you have the opportunity to be a hero or heroine for a few hours. movies shouldn't be a horrifying or depressing experience, but instead should give you a little bit of happiness. i liked this story of hope which offered the reminder of the importance of being found, of being part of a family. i also enjoyed the constant reminder that music is a gift, something more than mere notes with the ability to touch a deeper part of us. praise God for being the giver of all good gifts!

but the day wasn't over-the christmas lighting ceremony was tonight. all the christmas lights on the buildings around campus were turned on. i made reindeer antlers with matt. i rode on a horse drawn carriage with whitney, danielle and matt. jodi, jenny and i got our picture taken with santa.

i love this season to celebrate our savior's birth. i also am blessed by the gift of these friends to share the season with.

Was August Rush not the most amazing movie you've ever seen? I'm STILL buzzing from it. Really. I can't wait to own it. *sigh* yes, that will be nice. :)
